Neuropathy can be caused from a variety of disorders. Sometimes a person cannot even easily find out why. The physician or specialist may not be able to diagnosis it with out a lot of testing.

Two common causes are B12 deficiency and a thyroid disorder.

Another cause can be from diabetes. I am sure you have heard of diabetic neuropathy.

Cancer patients even get neuropathy from chemo treatments. They may have it years later as well.

Help-What can  you do? I think blood work ordered from a physician would be the first step. Rule out medical issues that are common. Have the doctor check for B12-Thyroid Disorder, and Diabetes. These disorders can easily be treated with prescriptions.

Neuropathy is a nerve disorder that can affect your toes, feet and hands. Some patients have it, others have numbness and tingling, stinging, burning, shooting pain.

There are even genetic causes of neuropathy; who would of thought.

Treatment:

1.Soak your feet in Epsom salts. It may help. If you are diabetic, ask your doctor first.

2.Chili peppers that have capsaicin in them have pain relieving properties. They have cream with chili peppers in them. Make sure you are not allergic to peppers.

3.Make sure you have good quality shoes or tennis shoes. Some people may need prescription shoe inserts. Some people may need to wear compression socks or at least ones with cotton extra padding on the bottom. Ask a foot doctor or orthopedic doctor.

4.There is always pills or medications. There is a common anti seizure medication they sure and many others.

5.Further testing: The Mayo Clinic has neurologist that can order further testing. I know I met with one who was great-Dr. Aksamit.  Be prepared to stay down there a few days.

If you have diabetic feet, you need to be very careful. Diabetics can have blood flow problems or in other words, PAD (peripheral arterial disease).Cuts, ulcers can be hard to heal on the feet. You always want to take care of your feet. They need to be clean and moisturized. Toe nails need to be trimmed. You don’t want to stand on your feet too long or get them cold when you have nerve damage. Diabetes often go to a foot doctor and some go weekly.
